08/02/2005 – Bush signs CAFTA Central American Free Trade Agreement.

08/25/2005 – Hurricane Katrina hits the Gulf Coast causing severe destruction from Florida to Texas. 80% of New Orleans was under water. More than one million Gulf Coast residents were displaced. Investigators ignored multiple witnesses reports of hearing explosions before the levees broke.

2005 – The Federal Emergency Management Agency – FEMA – was not properly prepared to meet the Katrina challenge. Over 1,300 people perish in one of the worst natural disasters to strike the United States.

12/15/ 2005 – The New York Times reports that in 2002, Bush signed The US Patriot Act to allow the National Security Agency to spy on Americans suspected of being connected to terrorist activity without a warrant. This order is in open disregard to our Bill of Rights and the US Constitution that Bush had sworn to defend.
12/17/2005 – Bush confirms secret eavesdropping program and lashed out at those involved in publicly revealing the program.
Slide 34. 2005 – “H.R. 4437”
12/16/2005: H.R. 4437 the Border Protection, Anti-terrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act is passed by the Unites States House of Representatives. It is now a Felony crime to help an illegal immigrant to enter or remain in the U.S. – By 2007 over 1 million people had left the US on their own.
2005 – The housing market boom starts to decline as foreclosures increase.
2005 – Gas Prices go up from $1.70 to $3.10 per gallon.
Exxon Mobile, Chevron, BP, Conoco Phillips, Valero Energy and American arms of Royal Dutch Shell earned $110. Billion in Profit. When asked how they could justify these increases, their response was “We have a right to make a profit”.
2005 – War spending in Iraq and Afghanistan increases as the “War on Terror” Continues.
2005 – Majority of Americans believe the Iraq invasion was a mistake.
