August 201: Hurricane Katrina hits the Gulf Coast causing severe destruction from Florida to Texas. 80% of New Orleans was under water. More than one million Gulf Coast residents were displaced.
The housing market boom starts it’s decent as foreclosures increase.
December 16, 2005: HR 4437 A.K.A. Border Protection, Anti-terrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act is passed by the Unites States House of Representatives. PENALTY: It is a crime to help an illegal immigrant to enter or remain in the U.S.
